Music for Thought during a week of Hell.

In the midst of my ambivalence to studying, even though I did succeed at staring at the same PreCalc book and Study guide for the last five or so hours, I have made the decision to share my stress relief playlist. Though there is no reason one would question free liberation music, I will explain my thinking. You know when your upper body subconsciously begins drifting towards the desk you’re parked at due to the weighty sensation? Yes, finals are almost here or were here for a majority of college students like myself which means there is no avoiding the surplus of tests that happen back to back forcing our bodies to an unhealthy level of nerves and uncomfortable stress. Well, luckily I have accumulated some songs that will aid in your exhaustion, as well as be handy in the near future. Take a listen, and watch the tension in your neck and shoulders slowly falter.

I recommend not disregarding a song due to the artist. If your one of those hipsters that immediately won’t listen to a song because the musician is actually popular, channel your inner adventurous soul. You could possibly find a new favorite combined with the stress relief.

1.     The Lazy Song(Acoustic)-Bruno Mars
(I personally like the acoustic live version because Bruno is honestly amazing live. Check out his video here.)

2.     Just the way you are-Bruno Mars
Another favorite for all the women out there. Go ahead, get distracted by his lyrics and vocals. Not going to lie, I was smiling whole heartedly in the library to myself. J

3.     Fast Car-Tracy Chapman
Such a classic. Somehow this song always makes life slow down for a couple of enjoyable minutes.

4.    Send me On my Way-Rusted Root
Ever seen Matilda or Ice Age? This song will bring home memories while reminding us life isn’t but a journey; it’s an adventure.

5.     Melt My heart to Stone-Adele
I still can’t comprehend that I only recently stumbled across this British woman’s music. Her voice, her tone, her soul all shine through the microphone while easily entering into my must listen now artists. She no longer is up and coming, Adele is here to stay. Check out another favorite song of hers entitled ‘Right As Rain’ and don’t be hesitant to try out her new single. She’s was on the Ellen Show, obviously she’s grand.

6.     Stop This Train-John Mayer
Found on one of his older album’s, Continuum, the soft strums of his guitar combined with his mellow style, make for a wonderful listen. Though I recommend the entire album as a whole, this particular song, ‘The Heart of Life’, and ‘Slow Dancing in a Burning Room’ take you somewhere else.

7.    So Deep in Love-Joel Auge
The genre for this song is Inspirational. Enough Said.

8.     Fuck Her Gently-Tenacious D
So you’re probably wondering why such a song would be found on a Stress Relief playlist? I find the best way to fully forget about all the work you have so thoughtfully procrastinated is to laugh. Laughing is the best medication for any sort of worry, so why not enjoy the lyrics and acoustic styling’s of a Sir Jack Black? I think yes.

9.     The Resoultion-Jacks Mannequin
An all around motivational song which provides a distinctively faster pace than the previous songs. Gotta have some variety right? Yet don’t be expecting some Guitar Hero status rifts. It’s alternative all the way right hurrr.

10. Holiday-Jimmy Buffett
So for those of you who are hipsters or feel you are too “trendy” to take a step backwards towards Jimmy, don’t fear! I actually had difficulty choosing just one song from his album Banana Wind…I mean c’mon just read that title. Sound inviting right? The Jamaicaesk sounds from his band force you to imagine your sitting on a beach sipping margarita. Did I mention his other album Margartiaville is great? Man I could scarf a ‘Cheeseburger in Paradise’ anyday. J

Alrigthy, so give those a listen, and I’ll be posting more in the upcoming week. I’m currently going to attempt to figure out I’m feeling about the Chapman social scene.

Cereal and Tea, Annie Green that’s me!
